Director of Business Development:
Freestyle is currently seeking a full-time director of business development to generate a large quantity of new business leads and prospects for Freestyle. The director of business development generates research on prospects and assembles reports to use in attracting and inciting prospects’ interest in marketing services. The director of business development also represents Freestyle at networking events, maintains Freestyle's prospect database (on Hubspot), makes and keeps appointments, cold calls leads and prospects, maintains and follows up on regular new business development outreach to prospects, looks for new leads, creates prospect profiles, and stays up to date on correspondence relating to all prospect contacts.  

Responsibilities:
  • Upholds the Freestyle Creative core values (H.E.A.R.T.) and Freestyle’s mission.
  • Practices effective sales efforts resulting in a steady increase of new business.
  • Communicates regularly with the account services and creative services teams to ensure that Freestyle is creating accurate proposals, scopes of work, and setting up the account/creative teams for success.
  • Wins profitable new accounts that are mutually beneficial for the client/Freestyle long-term.
  • Coordinates projects/jobs for smooth, efficient operation of new business effort.
  • Communicates effectively between the agency, clients and vendors.
  • Fosters positive relationships with vendors and prospects and instills a confidence in Freestyle's abilities and service.
  • Actively listens and seeks to understand clients’ needs and then recommends marketing strategies and services that can meet those needs.
  • Uses client contact software (Hubspot) to maintain detailed digital files documenting all contacts with each prospect including mailings, calls, appointments, and correspondence; records all research, reports, sales information or other materials used or created for use in selling the agency to each prospect.
  • Keeps timely contact with prospects through regular emails, mailings, phone calls, and appointments.
  • Coordinates with the Freestyle Creative president to schedule prospecting emails/newsletters, targeted advertising and other online tactics.
  • Keeps thorough records on all prospects so others can handle new business development responsibilities during the director of business development's absence.
  • Maintains a new business prospect database including primary, secondary and general target prospects; records product/market information about each prospect; and regularly updates all contact information.
  • Follows up on all prospect meetings with emails/Freestyle collateral materials.
  • In preparation for future growth, creates, refines, and documents the entire sales system in a manner that will easily allow training of another new business developer.  Includes each minute process including scripting of sales calls/meetings, proper attire, software requirements, presentation strategies, etc.
  • Looks for new business leads by building contacts in the community at business and civic groups; maintains prospect profiles for the president’s review; adds to prospect list with leads gained from business contacts, networking, etc.
  • In conjunction with the president, researches and constructs reports on selected prospects/industries/products for use as marketing tools in sales efforts with prospects.
  • Represents Freestyle Creative in the community through business/civic organizations.
  • Inventories all materials needed to continue the new business effort uninterrupted, including printing proposals, brochures and other promotional items, letterhead, cards, etc.
  • Meets with the account service team, creative team and president, to keep them informed of new business opportunities gained from new business efforts; transfers prospect contact to president/account service team when the client is ready to begin services.
  • Maintains current job-related software/technical skills and notifies the director of operations if training, computer/software upgrades or purchases are needed.
  • Adds input to marketing plans/proposals when prospect is elevated to account status; shares all available research and industry information for this purpose.
Reports to the Freestyle Creative president.

Position Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in advertising, business, communications, public relations, marketing, strategic communications and/or a related degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and writing skills
  • Desire to work in a creative, collaborative environment
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Ability to multi-task while being thorough, accurate and detail oriented
  • Large network and strong at relationship-building
  • Management experience a plus
     
Weekly Hours:
Candidate must be available to work 40 hours per week, on location, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may also require the candidate to attend some relevant networking functions after work hours.
