Position Description
The Director of Marketing Strategy is a member of Freestyle’s leadership team and is responsible for leading the marketing strategy team as well as overseeing the campaigns/projects for Freestyle clients. This position maintains relationships with clients, manages and coaches the marketing strategy team, oversees the integrated campaign strategy for clients (including research, strategy, marketing plan development, and implementation of marketing tactics), and supports the new business initiatives for the agency. This position is responsible for high-level oversight of client campaign budgets to ensure they are optimized for the client, while also ensuring projects/campaigns are coming in on budget to yield profit for the agency. The Director of Marketing Strategy is responsible for managing their department, working closely and communicating with the creative services team to set them up for success, and making sure that the Freestyle team delivers the maximum value to our clients. 

We are seeking an experienced, adaptable, positive, highly-motivated, and strategic leader with a strong work ethic. A qualified candidate for this position must have prior and/or current experience at a marketing firm, leading traditional and digital campaigns, and representation of client campaign case studies. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

  • Attending weekly Freestyle executive team meetings and reporting on marketing strategy department updates
  • Attending quarterly leadership team agency planning sessions
  • Reviewing agency KPIs and recommend strategies to help Freestyle achieve our agency goals
  • Recommending agency systems updates
  • Communicating agency goals, KPIs, and important updates to marketing strategy team members
  • Pursuing professional development and continual leadership training 

Account Strategy and Department Leadership

  • Managing the marketing strategy team
  • Assigning tasks, client projects and intern assignments on FunctionPoint and updating calendars
  • Monitoring the marketing strategy team’s KPIs 
  • Coaching and training the marketing strategy team members
  • Monitoring the marketing strategy team’s growth and eNPS survey scores 
  • Overseeing strategy for clients
  • Maintaining client relationships
  • Overseeing the development and team’s execution of client campaigns
  • Overseeing client campaign budgets to ensure they are optimized for the client, while also ensuring projects/campaigns are coming in on budget to yield profit for the agency
  • Overseeing all clients’ analytics (reviewing weekly status reports and End-of-Month reports sent by the marketing strategy team)
  • Leading client meetings and presentations
  • Coordinating and leading regular pod meetings with the creative team to discuss/plan on-going client projects
  • Foster a strong relationship and communications with the creative team members
  • Overseeing client financials and invoices for completed marketing work
  • Strategizing for the growth of current Freestyle clients

Freestyle Business Development

  • Regularly meeting with business prospects and helping bring in new leads
  • Representing Freestyle in the community at relevant industry groups as time allows: Ad Club, PRSA, AMA, Greater OKC Chamber, etc.
  • Leading new business discovery meetings
  • Strategizing and writing new client proposals
  • Overseeing strategy for new client pitches

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional industry-related experience in marketing, advertising or business related field 
  • Experience leading teams
  • Proven work experience leading successful integrated marketing campaigns
  • Client-facing experience leading meetings, fielding questions centered around multiple media services, and pitching new strategies
  • Successful management of medium and large scale campaigns (i.e. budget, mixed media, various creative elements)
  • Campaign experience on local, regional and national level
  • Ability to demonstrate and embrace Freestyle’s core values: Hustle, Evolve, Autonomy, Respect and Team 

Hours and compensation:

  • Full-time salaried
  • 40 hours per week (8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday)
  • Flexible remote/hybrid office setup
  • Salary commensurate with experience
